03:SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE


Simple Present Tense is used for various purposes. You will find that it is actually very interesting to use Simple Present Tense in constructing English Language sentences.Simple Present Tense will also help you a lot in writing your essay and even, literary texts.


One of the usage or purpose of using Simple Present Tense is to express the idea that the action is habitual or repeated.The action can be a habit, a hobby, a daily event, a scheduled event or something that often happens. It can also be something a person often forgets or usually does not do.





Example: 
play tennis.
The train leaves every morning at 8 AM.
Every twelve months, the Earth circles the Sun. 




Another usage of Simple Present Tense is to show facts or generalization. This means Simple Present Tense is  used to show that speaker or writer believes that a fact was true before, is true now, and will be true in the future. Simple Present Tense can also be used to make generalization about people or things. 





Example: 

Cats like milk.
Rantau Panjang is in Kelantan. 
Windows are made of glass.
Pendang is a small city. 


Speakers sometimes use the Simple Present to express the idea that an action is happening or is not happening now. 




Examples:
  • am here now.
  • She is not here now.
  • He needs help right now.
  • He does not need help now.
  • He has his passport in his hand.
